The theme of our meeting is “Time and the Other”
The main question of contemporary philosophy is the question of the Other. The encounter with the Other as a space of mystery, absolute otherness and absolute value, is a limit situation, because it exposes not only the limits of understanding, but also the limits of the human person. How does this ultimate situation relate to eschatology, to the comprehension of the limits of the world?
The time of human earthly existence is limited, and this limitation can be overcome by means of another, unlimited time of language and speech, the time of narrative. This is how the eschatological myth emerges, which gives meaning to the end, and thus allows us to overcome the fear of its irreversibility and to conceptualize the finitude of the small, the finitude of things, in relation to individual and universal eschatology.
